NOTE:
Morris Hirshfield created one of the more unique bodies of work in the history of American painting. He began painting after he retired as a tailor, so was able to create only 77 paintings. Often elements in his work are more than they seem, like the two fountains in this picture: they are fountains around a circular drive but also form two smiling faces.
