Cassis

From 1912 to 1925, Leon Kroll produced some of the best work created by any American artist. The Cezannesque landscapes he created, like Cassis, were enthusiastically received by both progressive and conservative artists and critics. Cassis is a small town in the south of France. It was a favorite of many painters including Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell in the 1920's and 1930's.
